2.7 Top End Rebuild
I had a head stud nut come loose on my 2.7 that was just rebuilt 30k's ago.The leakdown numbers were all less than 2% except for #4 was at 50% and was leaking from the head gasket.I am going to go into the motor this winter and am planning to put in new euro p&c's with an e cam to match up with my webers and ssi's and 2into 1 early rs exhaust. The shop is trying to talk me into taking out my raceware studs and replacing with dilivars.I am not trying to be cheap but most of my reading has stated that the raceware studs are a very good stud.Any opions would be welcome. Thanks

Trade Raceware's for Dilavar? I wonder if they'll "take care" of disposing of your Racewares for you (you might look for a project motor in their back room).... $0.02

Brent,
IMHO, your shop offers you sound advice. I won't use any Raceware or ARP head studs in any 911 engine anymore due multiple such ocurrances. We've used the late 993TT Dilavars for the past 8 years in a wide range of street & race engines without any issues and the head nuts do NOT loosen like the aftermarket ones do. Even though Raceware and ARP make a high quality stud, their expansion rates are not well matched to the 911 engine like the Dilavars are. Porsche's engineering staff really got that one right.

Yeah, you can always sell the Racewares to someone that disagrees with Steve....I am not one of them.

Thanks Guys,I will look into while we are in there,my mechanic also stated that if the raceware studs are loctited in then we will probably leave them and just check torque every valve change.
