3.6 to 3.6x51?

Has anyone done this and what is involved? I have a 3.6 on the way for the Boxster and while I am there I want to add a few things.

I need:
Lightweight flywheel
3.6 to 3.6X51 conversion
7.8 DME

TIA
JP

JP,

Its not too bad,...

The lightweight flywheel is available for these cars and its a very well made aftermarket item. We've installed several of them.

The 3.6 X-51 engine kit is a dealer-only proposition and not cheap at $ 8500.

You will need a 3.6 DBW 7.8 ECU (new or used) that can be re-flashed to work with the X-51. You will need to get your Immobilizer codes installed in the replacement ECU by a local dealer to enable it to start.

Steve

Thanks for the info but what I have coming in is a 3.6 for my 00 Boxster S. I will be adding my Imagine Auto Super Charger to it that is already on the car. What I was looking for was the details on making the 3.6 into a x-51 motor. I know it has cams, intake and some valve work and none of these are out of the question while the motor is out. I just want to do this once.

I already have a line on the harness but still need the:

7.8DME
LWFlywheel
and source for the cams or better sport set if possible.

The X-51 engine has different heads, cams, and intake manifolds.

The DME would be a dealer item unless you locate a used one. Trouble is, those are usually sold with the engine when removed from a wrecked car since the Immobilizer codes are matched.

You can contact me directly about the LWF.
