				911 fan removal

Just wanted to share my procedure for removing the fan from a 911 alternator without having to resort to using a hammer and punch which can easily damage the fan. See the attached picture, I use an inexpensive puller with the arms removed and threading nylon ties (they can take up to 75lbs) into the hub of the fan I can easily pull the fan off without distorting it. You can also use a three arm puller to disrtibute the load even more. | ||

Pretty clever...I'll have to try this next time I remove a fan.

| Less brakes, more gas! |
I just run a 1/4-20 tap through two opposite holes (the ones in the center of the fan) and use 2 screws... 1/4 turn each screw repeatably pops it right off in minimal amount of time.
