Cylinder Head Gasket Set?
I have my '92 Turbo motor almost completely down. 89k, fully sorted and ran great, pistons have carbon but show no det signs, cylinders look new with visible honing marks even at TDC, and not a single score.
But she had a few leaks, and I got sick of having an engine that looked like roofing equipment. I have spatula'd a mountain of grime off the block, it's been very therapeutic. Going in are ARP bolts, steel studs, and 964 cams (Turbo 3.6). I cannot find what the Cylinder Head Gasket Set (930-100-908-03-M17) contains, and what other gaskets I'll need to button 'er back up. Cheers!

A proper head gasket set includes everything you need except for lower end stuff but I'd really like offer you some advice for your Turbo motor,..............
![]() ![]() Use the 993TT Dilavar studs in your engine, not the steel ones since they don't expand at the same rate as the rest of the alloy engine. Thats "mission-critical" for turbo motors that expand and contract more than their N/A brethern.

Thanks Steve. I had asked Wayne which studs to use that were more affordable than ARP, RW, et.al and he said 993. I assumed he meant the steel ones since the Divalar ones are more expensive than the aforementioned aftermarket studs.
Hmmm...

Steve, are you advocating the 993 Dilavar OVER a set of ARP or RW studs?

Just an update; found a new set of ARP studs in the Classifieds. Doing it the right way for a good price just makes me feel extra warm n' fuzzy.

Please check here in this forum, or call around to some pro builders, regarding ARP head stud issues before writing a check.

Absolutely,...the Twin-Turbo version. I use no ARP head studs in any 911 motor.

Too late.
![]() I will do my homework now, but my experience in the 930 forum led me to believe the ARPs were a perfectly viable solution. Bottom line, the "timebomb" stock Dilavars are fine at 90k. I'm not building a 600hp motor. I don't have $1,000 to throw at studs. Period. Not shunning your collective experience, ... just frustrated.

Anything that is bought, can be sold. Such things are not irreversible and especially when considering whats at stake. You REALLY need to be able to keep the heads on tight at ALL times and there are issues with ARP head studs on Turbo motors. People never have the money to do something right, but they always have the money to do it all over again.

100% agreed with Steve on this one, I will not use anything but 993TT studs on my race engine builds PERIOD. One of our own motors is 964 based twin turbo (pretty stock in the way of components), motec driven, etc. running on 110, 550 rwhp @0.8 bar, adjustable to 1.5 which gets used more often than not. This motor has in excess of a 100hrs. on it and still running strong (way to many hrs. for my likeing, not my $$$) no probs. with studs (get checked all the time/no leaks, even at 1.5bar). One time rebuilding this motor I used ARP studs/NEVER AGAIN. BTW I only use stock rod bolts/nuts on this engine as it usually does not rev above 6700,.
