Showing our work is always cool. We only do air-cooled so we only have seven new 993/964 and 930 cases as of Friday. We are an engine shop not a parts house although I also own a parts shop. In that shop, we probably have 75-80 engine cases on the self. We have 16-18 complete engines on the board, a plethora of carb and throttle body restorations and six or seven transmissions. That's all happening in a barn on a farm with 4 employees. We are also in the process of assembling a new series of twin plug distributors we designed and build in-house. The newest project is a twin plug CD box that is designed to trigger two coils w/one box. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618096138.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618096645.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618096645.JPG |
That Looks fantastic Henry. Im not being a dick, but I currently have 8 cases for customer builds, 4x 930, 4x 993. Have you noticed the porosity in the distributor drive area on these cases, particularly the 964 cases?
I'm a one made band, Turning out 20 bespoke race engines for a local race series for a car manufacture, doing stuff that interests me when Im not doing my main focus. I'm currently developing 911 engine parts also, I will have more to show shortly. |

new cases
Wow,those new cases are just art.I will tell you what I would like to see from some of the talented people who observe here.A true clear engine shroud to show the detail work of assembly of the OCD crowd.I am just a mechanic so this is beyond my talents. But if I had a new case like these I WOULD like to see it.Maybe a few LED lights under the shroud to sit in the man cave with a Aged Scotch and Cohiba and go that is cool and ponder the universe that has no end.Ciao Fred

Nice shop. I was thinking about buying a Turner Tech balancer. In your state of the art shop it looks a little rudimentary but I have a spare mill that needs something to do. Your thoughts. |

Wish you would have said you needed a balancer last year, we just bought 2 T&S Probal 500's because we moved into a new shop. I called everyone I know and couldn't GIVE away the old T&S balancer. Literally, couldn't give away a working 8 year old digital balancer that's been properly maintained.

The major pain for me is pulling it off the mill do do other jobs. I started under my house, grew, dug under my house some more then brought a commercial premises where I live and work now, Space is always an issue, but we do the best with what we have. At the end of the day, the turner balance does what the others do, just on a mill rather that there own custom base. |
Henry, you will recognize the crank on the balancer? Made by my fellow country man in the USA, I believe you have cranks made by him?

The mill is an old Acra LCM-50 that we use when the beaver is tired but it's not good for much. The small foot-print of the mill mounted balancer is intriguing. Remember that we only work on flat six Porsches so 4 grams is the tolerance. SmileWavy |

I think you'd be happy with the turner balancer. Warren turner was always helpful. |

I know you were trying to clever.....but you failed. |

Do you strive to be negative or are you just that insecure? |

Obviously ian c2 was being sarcastic when he said the twin coil ignition unit in a single box your are working on is "a stupid idea". The sarcasm was directed at me and my comments about using a single MSD ignition with 2 coils (which still isn't a good idea). Anyway, ian c2 sarcasm fails because there is no reason you could not build a single box with 2 CDI circuits. |
Lets relax and not send another thread into the toilet.... :)
