Where to buy a carbon fiber fan shroud???

I'm detailing out the engine compartment of my '71 911T & want to install a carbon fiber fan shroud. Who is the best source for these? Thanks

The same effect can be achieved with:

looks great on hoods, doors, dashes - everywhere!

thx notmytarga... that is a great faux approach... I am interested in the weight savings & like the strength of cf... HOWEVER, if the $$ is sky hi, then a lot of consideration is needed to use actual cf parts.
I hope Colin will pipe in when he gets a chance or he can pm or email me.

The parts are not expensive untill you put a show quality finish on them. The finish do nothing to the strength and only adds to the weight.
MY friend has a race car that races in PCA GT3 class. The class break used to be based on displacement. Say 3.4 ltr. Wide open rules.
The class was then changed to a displacement vs weight calculation based on a given 110 hp per Ltr. We did the math and came out with a heavy car that barley made 100 Hp. per ltr. We went at it from both ends . It was a lot of work to get the 2200 lb car down another 100 lbs . It was and is even harder to get the motor to 110 hp per ltr.
I am hapy to say that my work to lighten the car using composites is no more expensive than trying to get the 3.4 to make 350 hp.
Check this thread for the pics of car.

I have been thinking of actually marketing these . The origional ones weigh over 5 lbs . these weigh .6lbs.

My decal/sticker post was in rice bashing jest. No offence intended.

The rear light boxes are entirely brillant. Taking the weight out of the perfect place and it is not important for these to be impact absorbing like a bumper is.
And because they are hidden their use is entirely functional unlike the cosmetic use of CF overlays in the cockpit where they only add weight.

The shroud is fiberglass and fairly light - these would be a far better parts swap.

Those light boxes are hefty, and easy to change out if the wiring can be dealt with.

I laid some fiberglass patches in a ducktail I am working on - my first resin type experience other than body filler. How do you come up with the molding detail - are you creating a casting and then laying into that??

Great idea and good looking for a hidden gem. Any other rear-end lightening ideas?

Getty Design has been making CF fan shrouds since the late 90s. I believe the price is around $450.00 and the quality is exceptional.
