Engine identification help!

I'm looking to verify my spare engine with no serial number.

case # is 901.101.101 7R

6 bolt flywheel

I pulled it from a 76s but it has no serial numbers. Mag case, carrera tensioners, 11 blade fan, no thermal reactors on the exhaust.

I believe this to be a 2.7s possibly could be a warranty factory/dealer rebuilt or replacement engine???

Could any experts verify this or shed some light

Thanks

In the mid 70s there was quite a few replacement cases. They were used because engine leakage from porus cases below the oil pump.

Bruce,

Do you know if there exists a list of cases used in 911's?
I'm just taking apart my 73T MFI engine, and see the number in the casting as well as a casting manufacturers logo.
I would like to know if there is any information available that details the cases / manufacturers and modifications made over the range.

Thanks,

John

All the different "R"" ratings on the side of the block from 3R up to 7R have different reinforcements built in to the strength of the case.
