Engine identification help!
I'm looking to verify my spare engine with no serial number.
case # is 901.101.101 7R 6 bolt flywheel I pulled it from a 76s but it has no serial numbers. Mag case, carrera tensioners, 11 blade fan, no thermal reactors on the exhaust. I believe this to be a 2.7s possibly could be a warranty factory/dealer rebuilt or replacement engine??? Could any experts verify this or shed some light Thanks |

In the mid 70s there was quite a few replacement cases. They were used because engine leakage from porus cases below the oil pump.

Bruce,
Do you know if there exists a list of cases used in 911's? I'm just taking apart my 73T MFI engine, and see the number in the casting as well as a casting manufacturers logo. I would like to know if there is any information available that details the cases / manufacturers and modifications made over the range. Thanks, John |

All the different "R"" ratings on the side of the block from 3R up to 7R have different reinforcements built in to the strength of the case.
