Boosting at 2.7

I have a 2.7 I will be rebuilding. It came from a 76 911. My preference is to rebuild this and put it into a 73 or 74. I would like to beef up the performance. What are some recommendations/expectations?

There are many things one can do to the 2.7 to significantly improve performance.

Two questions, though:

1) Whats your budget? (this is the biggie)

2) Do you require smog compliance?

The budget is open ended. The amount of money dictates how long I take. I would rather take the time and spend the money to have a nice set up. With that said, I will be doing the rebuild and have never done that before.

This will be a "historic" car so no smog or emmission requirements.

You can build a nice 2.7 RS motor but it will cost alot. It would be much cheaper to get a 3.0 engine put carbs on it and have a bulletproof motor with more power and much longer life.

yeah I'm looking to do the same, rebuild a 2.7, I'd be interested to hear what Steve@rennsport has to say my plans

I have Euro spec 75 911 2.7 but with S pistons (8.5 compression), yet I still have the non-S Cam's. I can see some opportunity to increase performance while retaining the k-jetronic fuel injection, but not a lot. They are - S Cams and SSI heat exchangers with either single or dual outlet muffler. There is not a lot of difference between the base level 911 cams and 911s cams but some. SSI heat exchangers look like they will offer some performance improvement.
Steve - any other ideas?
cheers
