Need Raceware Head Nut Torque
I'm putting the heads back on my 3.2 and need to confirm the proper raceware head nut torque ... 24?

24 Ft pounds , to be on the safe side can't you check directly with Raceware?

A friend of mine says 36 ft lbs.
..and one of his motors still holds the lap record during the 24 hrs at Daytona so I believe him. |

The Carrera motors use a different torque spec because of the sealing surface.
15ft# + 90 degrees is Porsche spec. Bruce |

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help and got the info I needed to get the heads on. For future reference, here are the instructions from Raceware:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS RWE-1022 ULTIMATE 911/930/964/993 HEAD STUDS Please read instructions completely before proceeding. RACEWARE Aerospace Quality Porsche Head Studs are the finest quality head studs ever produced. To achieve the best performance from this stud kit, please install this kit as instructed. NOTE: We highly recommend our RACEWARE Aerospace Quality Head Stud Kit for all 911/930/964 and 993 engines with one qualification. We recommend Timeserts be installed in all magnesium cases to prevent the case threads from pulling. It is absolutely required to use the Timeserts in the 2.7L 911 engine cases due to the thermal expansion rate of the Alusil and Nikasil cylinders and the brittle (verses aluminum) magnesium case.. We do NOT recommend using our RACEWARE Ultimate Head Stud Kit in any 2.7L 911 engine without Timeserts. If you have any questions on this subject, call RACEWARE Engineering L.L.C. BEFORE you install this kit. (734) 947-9499 Tech Line. DO NOT MIX RACEWARE HEAD STUDS WITH DILIVAR OR OTHER OEM STYLE HEAD STUDS. Removal of the original cylinder head studs can be accomplished by using a stud removal tool or by using two 10 x 1.5mm hex nuts jammed together. Take care not to damage the threads in the aluminum cases, and make sure to install Timeserts in magnesium cases. (Timeserts also work well in the aluminum cases.) When installing the RACEWARE Ultimate Head Stud, take care not to scratch or damage the EXCLUSIVE Aerospace anti-corrosion coating on the stud. It is acceptable to lightly bottom the stud in the case, but it is not recommended to "jam" the stud with excessive force. The stud height should be set to the height specified in the Porsche service manual for the specific engine model and year these studs are installed in. We DO NOT RECOMMEND USING ANY LIQUID THREAD LOCKING COMPOUNDS ON THE THREADS with one exception. If you are using Timeserts, which have a slightly looser internal thread fit than a standard Porsche case, a single drop of medium strength liquid thread locking compound is acceptable on the case end of the stud. The Ultimate 911/930/964 Head Studs accept the original style Porsche barrel nuts. To insure proper torque to the cylinder head, the threads in the nut must be clean and free of dirt, grease or rust. Make sure to lubricate the threads with one of the following: a small amount of Optimoly HT paste, or anti-seize compound. Torque the cylinder head nuts in three increments as follows: Tightening Torque Specs: step 1.= 20 Nm., (15 ft/pounds) step 2.=25 Nm., (20 ft/pounds) Final Torque = 32Nm. (25 ft/pounds) It is not necessary or desirable to exceed the torque specifications recommended for these studs. RACEWARE studs use a much stronger alloy steel to provide a higher clamp force with less torque to keep your heads sealed tight. Exceeding the recommended torque specifications can cause case or head damage, for which RACEWARE Engineering can not be held responsible. It is best to check head nut torque again after engine has been run, in competition applications.

+1, check them after the motor as been ran through a couple of heat cycles at minimum, very critical. I check them every time I adjust valves.
