Rebuild and running a 2.8. keep the marrelli twin plug or something else?
Hey Folks,
It has been a long time coming but I am getting ready to clean up a 2.8 and install it into my '74 Carrera wannabe. I know that in the last ...almost 40 years ignition systems have come a long way and the Marrelli parts are getting hard to find. What would the best option for controlling the ignition while still keeping that cool vintage look? Is the supertec/Burn Bros or maybe something that Steve Weiner is selling a better option than running the original Marrelli stuff? I would like the best performance and durability and a fair price. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Jay,
Indeed, you are correct: Porsche-specific Marelli parts are now VERY tough to find and very expensive, plus there are better alternatives. I would use a breakerless distributor that accepts the Marelli Jaguar cap to retain the vintage, period look you want and it can trigger either Bosch or MSD CD boxes. Options include our distributor thats made for us, Supertec's and JB Racing's. Each is different in appearance and features,....... ![]() Please feel free to contact me for details and information.
