2.0 case /w 2.2 heeads

our project is the 1968 T longhood euro - seems we might have a couple bad heads can we put 2.2 heads on a 2.0 case using the T barrels and pistons, if so what will that do to our compression, and would S cams work as a good combination.
were using webers

At a minimum T pistons and S cams don't work too well. You will need to machine the tops of the pistons to ensure that the S cams to come in contact with them, and the CR is going to be too low for the S cams to work well. The engine will be real week when "off cam".

The 2.0 barrels are too small diameter for the later 2.2, 2.4, 2.7 heads with their flatter, more open combustion chamber. This will cause detonation pockets unless the heads are welded up in their chamber perimeter to meet the cylinder wall smoothly.

And yes, there will be valve/piston interference problems with T pistons and S cams.

Here is a picture of some heads we did for a 2.0 race engine using 2.2 heads,.......

This was done before they were twin-plugged, CNC ported and flowed,...:)

Its not a small job to do but this 2.0 engine made over 235 HP so it was well worth the effort.

Thanks for the help guys!

Wait
My understanding is that stock for stock, the 2.2 has a different cumbustion chamber design that the original 'normal' 2.0.

Interesting thought -a punched out 2.0 (to 2.2 or so if that is possible) and good exhaust would be a nice motor since the 67 2.0 already made 140 hp before they added that ring in the exhaust system to reduce output and give the S 160 hp motor more of a separation from the base.

How much does welding up the heads and machining cost.
