Shroud paint
Looking for a recommendation for a type of paint to use on the engine shroud pieces. I have a spray can of Wurth high heat resistant paint, will this resist scratching? I see it needs to be heated to cure. There is a firearms paint made for machine gun barrels that air cures in 5 days, I've used this before and it is very hard to get off after curing. You can see it here.

Good reading. Just to clarify, I'm looking at painting the metal pieces.

You don't need heat resistant paint for that. Powder coating is probably the best choise, but I have used common rattle can paint that has worked good.

Powder is best, but rattle can BBQ grille paint works great, too.

On second thought the firearms paint may not be a good idea, it needs a foundation, on a firearm that would be parkerizing. If a suitable primer could be found it is very tough paint.

The shroud is not painted, it is dyed in the resin/gelcoat. You can lightly wet sand it and polish out scratches to bring back the original shiny color.
Or, are you talking about the metal air deflectors that go around the cylinders?

satin is the OE finish - flat will be duller than original
but... the shinier the finish, the less grunge will stick to it |

I've started painting the 8 piece's to the cylinders using the Wurth heat paint. I will use a heat gun to heat the parts above 400 deg. to cure it.
