No Fire 82 911SC
Last evening my 82 911SC stranded me. From what I know, the CD box is "whining" when ignition is turned on, but no fire comes across the plugs. Anyone know if the CD box "whining" removes it from the list of suspects. Car was running fine and then it was like someone turned off the ignition and it quit. Other than the CD, other possibilities I guess are the coil, rotor, and rotor cap. Anyone got any ideas?

Try another coil.
Upside down and in the rain on the fan housing is about the worst possible place for one and they havn't been made in Germany for a while. I carry a spare in the trunk now.. ..at least my car had a sense of humor, or it does have a brain and it stranded me next to a parking place in front of a popular bar during happy hour when it decided to spit out the previous coil. |

Thanks JFairman. I will try another coil. Might as well go ahead and replace rotor cap and rotor as well as they aren't very expensive. Guess I could test the coil by seeing if it will jump spark to ground, gotta be one of these issues though I think.

What about the fuel pump relay? Did you check that?
Or are you just not getting spark?

Thanks MCA. Really haven't looked yet at fuel as the first test shows no spark. I am gonna look closely at coil this evening. Contemplating going to MSD CDI with new Blaster coil and new plug wires, but hadn't planned on having to do it just yet. But now may be the time. Thanks for the responses.
