Bolting engine stand ring to engine

What I read somewhere, not sure where, have read a lot before I tackled the job of Head Stud replacement. Looking at the engine from the transmission side, the adapter ring bolts on the left half of the case? Do I use the studs that the starter came off and how many bolts will he holding the engine when said and done?

The ring holds the engine on the starter half of the engine. I have one and I prefer removing the studs for the bell housing and bolting the proper length bolts into the case. The ring has 2 bolts to the engine and two bolts to the engine stand.
The most important thing I ran into was the engine stand head should be centered to the crank shaft because the engine becomes difficult to handle if the engine is off center of the head.

So, 2 bolts into the engine case is all that supports the weight? If so, that just scares me.

I believe you want the same torque on the bolts to the yoke as the trans torque specify. correct me if I'm wrong.
Also shouldn't you be bolting the right half to the yoke?

Leakproof.

Perhaps either side as long as your not splitting the case or locking, removing the flywheel. I know there's a reason for this protocol.

Leakproof.
