I'm installing the heads on my '86 930 engine. All studs are replaced with the 993tt dilavars, But now I'm confused on the torque value, the workshop manual torque is for older studs, (i don't have the 993 workshop manual) and "the book" says 32 Nm I recall, but Bruce anderson is talking about two different torque settings for steel and dilavar, of which dilavar gets a bigger torque. Pleas help me make a choice what to follow.
BTW the engine will get a k27HF and rarely8's piece of art along with some other mods to get close to 400fwhp. cheers Harold |

thanks Pat, How did you got this spec? experience or some spec sheet?
I have put 33 Nm with greesed (anti seize) washers and nuts... Since the studs were not deformed I can always redo this. regards Harold |

The engine builder I bought these studs from uses that method. I believe that is what Porsche calls for in their literature. That is the spec I used on my engine.

Forgive my ignorance, Harold, but I'd have thought that with a K27HF and a new exhaust system (presumably 1.0Bar boost) you'd sail comfortably past 400FWHP?...
Have you had your car's Fuel Head modified (IA) or using a Euro? Go on - you got me intrigued - what else are you having done? ![]() |

Tj 930, I have a euro car, and plan to install an adjustable or digital Wur.
I have had contact with Rarlyl8 and he told me the fuel capacity would be OK. I'm planning a dyno tune and want to monitor AFR with an LM-1. At this time I'm finishing up my engine after a total rebuilt. ![]() I'm starting of with a brand new Tial 46 with 0,9 bar boost, just to be safe. And future plan is to install bigger intercooler and boost 1 bar. Goal is 350+WHP... |
