Source / cost for used 3.2 engine?

I used search, but I need an answer asap. there is a eastcoast dealer with a slopenose conversion 911 for sale. car has tons of miles, but they made a big deal about the engine being rebuilt.

When I asked for info, they said it was all done by Motormeister. I had already seen the threads on these guys, so as far as i am concerned , I will have to buy a used 3.2 engine after buying this car.

Can someone post what decent 3.2s go for, and where to find them? A ballpark figure is fine, as i have no clue.

I am still prepared to buy this car, but i want to make an offer based on the fact i will have to buy a used "known" engine, as opposed to the engine thats installed. i will have a PPI done prior to wiring funds.

I have had several real 930s PPI the last few months, and all of them failed. i would take a 930 with a 3.2 swapped into it, or a nice slopenose conversion. three of the wide body 911s i had inspected were needing valve guides / valve jobs. i passed on all of them.

this black convertible slopenose the dealer has for $18,500 is the closest i have been to a viable car, and i am still interested, even though i will have to purchase a engine , and see what else the car needs with 144,000 miles on it!

i bought a stunning 85 Targa with 58k miles on it from a Pelican a few weeks ago for $16,500. finding a decent driver slopenose has been a challenge.

my 308GTB QV sold last week, so i am car hunting with cash in hand again. going to keep theTarga until Spring and sell it if i find a slopenose.

thanks.

Michael
