Wayne Top Engine Picks
I am in process of collecting the parts for Wayne's 2.2 -> Upgrade for my tired 1971 2.2T. I have the E pistons and cams along with freshly rebuilt heads, still on the hunt for a clean 2.7 crank, (the hunt is half the fun) any suggestions on other parts that will improve the reliability and the performance.
we are just a few weeks away from dropping the upgrade parts along with the block to the Porsche Wizards for the rebuild. This car has been a blast to own and drive and we want to keep the car running strong and reliable for many years to come. Tony |

Sounds like a fun project. I think Wayne's book gives great suggestions on this and seeing that no one else has responded here, maybe you should post over on the EarlyS site. There are more small bore lovers over there

Hi there. I really feel that there's almost nothing that's not included in my book? Just follow the procedures there (especially the prep required for the case), and you should be good-to-go!

I rebuilt my 3.0 to the High Performance 3.0L specs with the exception of keeping the stock 9.3:1 compression. 234.7 Hp@5750 and 225Ft/lb torque@4850. Thanks Wayne!

Personally, I think that optimizing the heads and cams are key to the performance you want. And then, depending on the cams, the compression comes into play, etc etc. Waynes book covers it pretty well, and head porting could take another series of books, so research at your leisure!
