996 went south

Aside from the case and crank which are not useable, these are a couple of the big pieces that were left. I understand it was a race engine in competition but when the case was opened you had to sweep the floor for all the small broken pieces.

I've read all the posts and seen the dedicated pages on the web about the 996 engine.
But I still can not believe Porsche built this engine and got away with it.

On the plus side: There seem to be a lot of people making money fixing the many issues these engines have.

Its been a week but the sweepings were still in the basket so I thought it could still be enjoyed by all.

You could make good money selling those sweepings to MotorMeister.

Aurel...MM wont give you a dime for that stuff.
But...they would allow you to send it to them if you enclosed enough $$.
And....they will charge an arm and a leg to the next guy who wants a part.

i wish i could remember exactly what porsche told my mechanic friend, but it was not good. he is a loyal die hard porsche mech, it almost made him want to sell his and get out of the buiss.
why do you think porsche will not race this engine?

Looking at that piston it looks like the engine was over-revved.
Can't blame the manufacturer for that; the only fix is to tighten the nut behind the wheel....
