Fuel pressure regulator question
I see on most upgrades, particularly those involving ITBs and EFI, that non-OEM fuel pressure regulators are being used. Why? Doesn’t the original flow enough fuel?
I presume the non-OEM FPRs still just maintain the correct fuel pressure across the injectors. I am heading down this path (EFI and ITBs) with a 3.6 and I am at the stage where I am planning my fuel system and shopping for parts, so should I add an FPR to my list? If so, what are best options? If it makes a difference, I will be running this engine in a 930 with its two pumps and accumulator.

C'mon, don't be shy!!
Why should I use an after-market FPR instead of the OEM version? ![]()

We have used the 993 factory fuel rails and regulator on a 993 TT with Motec management @ around 600hp with no problems. If you want to change pressure there are 3.8, 4.0, and 5.0 bar regulators available. These all have vacuum reference port so fuel pressure increases 1 to 1 with boost.
If you use aftermarket injector rails we have and adapter to use the factory regulator, or you can go with the aftermarket regulators. Aeromotive is one we have used with no problems. Very high quality. There are metric to AN adapters available, so any combination of items is possible, whatever makes for a clean and simple install. |
