964 distributor in a 3.0 sc motor??
Can a 964 twin plug distributor be used in a early 3.0 sc engine?
What mods must be done to accomplish this? |

Not unless the distributor crank gear is replaced with a later one for CW operation.
SC's run CCW, 3.6 distributors run CW; therein lies the issue. ![]() ![]()

It can trigger MSD's, stock ignition boxes, or any EMS you choose. E-mail me for pricing. You will need an SC distributor as a trigger donor. ![]()

You could just install one of these.
With our distributor there is no need to change the drive gear (don't need to slit the case) and they are built to your exact specifications. We can even add a vacuum advance, something you can't do with any other twin plug distributor options. ![]()

if you wnated to use a 964 distributer in an early sand cast aluminum case with a 66mm crank would you use a 2L distributer as a core? can the 964 distributer shaft be turned down to fit the smaller case bore or do you enlarge the case bore for the distributer?
thanks!

This twin-plug alternative for an early engine would not be my choice: I'd be using a unit such as whats pictured above as there are several choices, depending on your budget. ![]() ![]()

We have since given up on the twin rotor design in favor of the Burn_Bros conversion distributor. Because of the large number of vintage 2 liter race cars converting to twin plug, we developed the 2.0 Gen II distributor. It uses all Bosch internals and housing for this conversion. ![]() ![]()

Here is a 2.0 sand cast case that was bored and had the bracket added for a 30mm distributor.
![]() We also added an MFI pump bracket ![]()
