Engine Builders..I need help..

I am scratching my head on this one and need some help...

I have a stock 2.7 engine that I am transplanting into a 914-6...
all was fine until I installed the 901 type flywheel and found that the timing marks were off...
When the fan crank pulley is at TDC and the distributor is also at #1 cyl...the flywheel TDC mark is about 20 to 25 deg off....
when I rotate the flywheel to it's TDC the TDC mark on the fan pulley is about 20 to 25 deg off ATDC

What am I missing here???

Thanks for any help

On the 914/6 timing is set with the light beaming down onto the flywheel and the marks come up to the 35 because the only timing in the day was for the 35degrees @6K. I would think that marking your own with a notch would be the answer providing all pulley and distributor are properly installed.
Its been since 1980 since I had a 914/6 and 1987 since I replaced a flywheel on one and remember possibly the early first 5 years wouldnt be marked because there was no reason to mark 911.
Just the thoughts,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce...
Yes this 914-6 flywheel has the TDC and the 35 deg mark...
it's just that they don't line up with the distributor and front fan pulley..
it's just crazy...

2.0-2.2 crank bolts are indexed differently than 2.4-2.7 cranks in relation to TDC #1

You will have to make your own timing marks based on the front pulley

I was thinking that but didn't have the old 2.7 flywheel to confirm....

Thanks!
