Rocker arm bushings?

I was wondering if there is a replacement bushing for the rocker arms on my 2.4L? I have 6 new ones, but 6 good ones with some scratches in the bushings from removing the rocker shafts.

Wondering if I could save them or just get 6 more new ones?

PM Cgarr. He rebushes these with some very trick bushings. You should have them all refaced and rebushed.

+1 Craig (cgarr) did mine with his special bushing and refaced the rockers for a very good price. Should have sent him my heads too.

The new ones are OK, then. The used ones, if never bushed, need to be reamed oversize for bushings first, then the bushings can be pressed in and tapped for oil passages, IIRC.

The bushings are readily available from any auto supply house that deals in rockers. I have never checked on Pelican, though.

Kenik

Reamed oversized before installing new factory type bushings?

I just installed bushings, and I just pressed the old ones out and the new ones in. The reaming came to make the ID of the new, pressed in, bushings, big enough for the rocker shaft.

What am I missing here?

Walt (I shoulda sent all this to CGarr)

Ah, right. I missed the "unbushed."

His is a 2.4, I think they all came with bushings.

Yes - Anderson says '70 was the advent of the bushed rockers.

I'd have thought all the early unbushed ones had been converted by now.

question re. Cgarr bushings - I remember reading months/years? ago regarding a new bushing material for rockers. There was some testing going on but I didn't recall seeing a test result writeup. If these are those, are we done, and the "new" material is confirmed to be working? I have all my rockers out at this point so just wondering. Thx.
