motor stopped running

I was wondering if I pulled spark plugs and remove rocker arms, if I have a timing/ valve problem this might show. The chain covers are off and chains seem to be tight. Motor will not turn over. I was driving the car when it died, no loud noises.

where are you?
What do you drive?
Do you have sufficient oil to keep the engine from locking up?

I'm in Ut. Sorry not enough info. I have a 1973 911 2.4. Prev owner had some upgrades so I'm still checking model. All gauges looked ok and oil was up. I had pushed in clutch to down shift when it died. I pulled over and things looked ok. Car started and I got off Freeway, pushed in clutch and it died again. Rolled to a stop and it wouldn't turn over from there. Been sitting for 3 years and I finally have time to work on it.

When you say won't turn over, is the motor locked or just cranks and won't start?

Engine won't turn with wrench on crank. When the shop towed it the owner said it wouldn't turn over with a wrench either. Seems to be a reputable shop they have done some work I didn't have time for.

It sounds like you may have a clutch problem. The way you described it, when you engaged the clutch, it killed the motor, and it sounds like it is bound up.

Ed,
According to his description, when he pushed in the clutch pedal and disengaged the clutch the engine died.
I would think it's time to drop the engine and transmission.
