Compression and Leakdown figures Hello to all. I'm very close to purchase 993, MJ95 with 87tmls on it. I already got a PPI for the car. They also did a compression and leak down test on the engines: Compression Test Cyl. 1 190 2 200 3 200 4 185 5 190 6 200 Leak Down Test Cyl. 1 12% 2 10% 3 10% 4 20% 5 15% 6 12% The mechanic at the shop stated that the values are ok. I still would like to get a second opinion. Thanks in advance Heiko |

For a driver car, those are not terrible. The compression figures are all within 10% of one another and the worst leakdown figure of 20% is kind of iffy but I wouldn't walk on the deal if it drove well and was a straight car otherwise. Are there better drivetrains out there? Yes, for sure. |

Heiko, The real question is WHERE the observed leakage was coming from and if the person who did the PPI failed to note this and write it down, they did you no favors. |

I'd run a can of fuel injector cleaner through it and run it HARD, then to the test while the engine is still hot... See if that 20% goes away. Definitely should have told you though where the 10% leakage was coming from... (intake, exhaust, rings) |

Thanks to all for the feedback. I will run the can of fuel injector cleaner and test it again. Let you know what the result is. Regards, Heiko |
