Took them down to 400 grit then paste and dremel polish, clean with carb cleaner dry then acetone wipedown finally.

HI Daviboy
I think you need to take the valve spring assembly apart and re-assemble in the correct order, or is it you have just put every thing together so as not to loose any thing before final assembly?? regards mike |

As Mike noticed the valves seats and retainers were stacked together. I had the shop re-do the seats and guides and check the new valves. However I did not want them building the valves as I wanted to do the finer polishing in the combustion chamber then be able to lift them out so I could thouroughly clean prior to assembling the valves, springs etc. So I got all the polishing done and then set about builidng up the valves etc. Few hours and job done all with spring set to 964 specs.

More Work Done
So I eventually got the pistons and cylinders in hand Monday morning. I had spent the weekend checking and measuring building up the rocker arms etc. I had the cam towers back from the shop after doing the rocker arm pin seals...
Cleaned up the pistons one by one ringed them then inserted into the cylinders, no real dramas helps to really fill up the gaps with clean motor oil especially the oil ring. Started at number one and installed all six by yesterday at 4 pm. The wrist pins are tricky cannot stress enough the importance of the clingwrap over the holes every hole those rascals can fly and hurt suggest a welders apron over the nether regions. I got them in using a combination of squeezing the open end together a bit using as needle nose vise grip then feeling those ends into the little recesses on the piston hold with middle finger and with an old screwdriver ease the circumference in and down. I then used the end of my socket screwdriver handle and a light tap to firmly snap the ring in, dont trust it if it does not SNAP in, thats why the welders apron standing back adrmiring handy work and pow right in the ![]() Pictures to follow of the motor I mean
