Pertonix ignition unit
Has anyone used the Pertronix second strike ignition unit on a 911 motor? I have built a 2.7 motor with JE 10.5:1 pistons, L cams and webers. I blew the CDI unit on installation to my VW Beetle and am looking for an aftermarket solution. I like the idea of the second spark as I have not gone down the route of twin plugging.

I just installed a Pertronix unit in my 1977 3.0L Carrera. No issues and straight forward installation. Also, no more bouncing tach issues.

For multiple spark ignitions, we use the MSD 6AL ones and the matching High-vibration Blaster coil with excellent success for the past 25 years.

msd installation
Cheers guys. I have now purchased the MSD 6AL Unit. I had also bought a Permatune coil SC010 to go with the original CDI box I had "repaired". Unfortunately there was no output from the A terminal to coil + wire so no spark. Having just bought the unit and unwrapped it, I'm now confused as to the plug leads. I was going to change them anyway but want to know the exact spec i should buy. STD sheilded wires will cost me in excess of £150.00, ($200.00) and the unit does not reccomend "solid core wires" which I guess they will be. Any chance you guys could point me in the right direction? Will my coil work and if not which one, and who supplies the leads and which ones?? You have all been a great help so far.
