oil tube recommendation
Hi, I am rebuilding my 3,3 turbo engine and would like to know should oil return tubes changed or I need just to change seal-rings? If they should be changed, then what should I go for? What would be your opinion about COLLAPSIBLE oil tubes? I have heard that the only difference to originals is that they have one more place where they can leak. Please share your experience about them.

Tubes
When I rebuild 911's I install new non collapsable units, they are not expensive and they freshen up the look of the build, with new green "O" rings and properly detailed holes they will seal a very long time, It does not make any sense to rebuild with the repair style units, it adds 4 more places to leak oil and they are expensive.

I like the stock tubes in three locations, with a collapsible one in the front left position. This allows you to tighten/remove/replace the scavange oil line without any special wrenches. These tubes are repair items, and aside from the use I find for the one, they are not an improvement on stock.
Of course, if you forget to install the stock tubes before you apply sealant and bolt the cam carrier into place, it is handy to have these collapsibles in your junk box. |
