3.3 Liter SS Build
Yep, here we go again! The final plans are finally coming together for my forthcoming engine rebuild. The plan is to take my SC 3.0 and turn it into a strong 3.3 liter. So far I have: 1) 100mm Mahle 10.3:1 pistons, 2) XDI twin plug ignition, 3) 3.2 Carrera heads w/twin plugs and some porting work, 4) 964 cams. Yet to come are a set of LN Engineering 100mm slip fit cylinders, cylinder head stud set, bearings, gaskets and assorted sealants. The plan (right now) is to use the CIS induction system for fuel delivery. Why not PMOs? Actually, I am curious to see what I can do with the CIS hardware. If results are not satisfactory, I can change out the CIS for carbs later without having to go back into the engine. I chose the XDI ignition as the timing is completely adjustable and there will be no more distributor caps and rotors to buy. Along with the engine work, I am in the process of removing weight from the car. Hopefully I will be able to get at least 100 lbs and maybe as much as 200 lbs off without affecting the comfort level too much. It will take a while to gather the rest of the bits and pieces, but as things progress I will add to this thread. As Hannibal Smith would have said, "I love it when a plan comes together!"

I think this is a great idea for a short stroke. Have you considered high performance rods for your 3.3179232609457543 Liter Shorty?
I wonder if with twin plugging you might end up with enough extra volume to call it a 3.4. Shane ![]()

The next step.......
The heads have been sent to Xtreme Cylinder Heads in Florida for a refresh. Looks like they will need exhaust valves and guides and have all the valves re-seated. Hopefully this won't take too big of a bite out of the rebuild budget! I am trying to get most of the long lead time things taken care of in advance so the actual rebuild time will be relatively short.

Great, I'm considering this for my rebuild . What HP do you think you will achive? Why did you choose to go 3.3 rather than 3.2 . Are there advantages other then displacment?
