5R/4R engine case

I bought an engine case from a man named Franz Bluske in San Luis Obispo about a year or so ago with plans to build a replacement engine for my 73.5. After some time went by, I decided to put in a 3.0 instead. I never even opened the box that the 5R/4R case came in until recently in order to photogragh the case to place it on Pelican. It was then that I realized that the serial number had been "chisled off" of its location. This was never disclosed to me when I bought it. The case appears to be in great condition.
Is the case now worthless? I would love to sell it but don't know the implications of trying to sell a case like this. Any ideas?

4R/5R pairings are common. There is no problem with that.

Franz Bluschke is a great guy from what I experienced when meeting him. He is also one heck of a driver.

I was more worried about the fact that the serial number has been removed. Can it be sold?

People have un-numbered cases. They are actually a valuable/somewhat rare item. They are factory produced spare engine cases, meant to be replacement parts. They are only available as new-old-stock (NOS) and people who have early 911s with missing original engines like the un-numbered cases better than a "wrong" engine number.

That said, you are sure the number was ground off, not just damaged through accident? Have you tried contacting Franz? This sounds like an issue your two should talk about personally.

I never said that Franz was/is a bad guy. I'm just saying that he sold me an engine case that has chisel marks where the serial number was. The fact that it had the serial number removed was not disclosed at the time of sale. I paid $400.00 for it and assumed the serial number would be present.(my stupidity for not asking) What would the case be the worth of this engine case under this situation? This is not the first "part issue" that I've had with this seller and he would not return my calls in the past.

Does the case have a "type #" stamped into it?

I still think you should talk to Franz off the board to resolve that issue.

You're right. I mean, he's a good driver. He should be able to do whatever he wants in able to support his abilities. Maybe, just maybe, I'm trying to avoid another person from buying something that was not as advertised or undisclosed. Oh yeah. I forgot. He's a good driver. All sins should be wiped clean. What was I thinking?

Hey, I only said that once. I am not saying him being a good driver makes up for anything. Maybe the person that buys your case would like more history on it? How are you going to get that unless you ask Franz about it. If he refuses to tell you about it, then that is another issue.

He is a great driver.

Maybe this great driver will be a great person and refund my $400.00 that I paid for the engine case and do so in HIS method of payment. Franz had me deposit all funds into his checking account prior to any sort of shipment of parts.
Well. here's my checking Info. Maybe this all just a bit of "miscommunication".

J.P. Morgan Chase Bank
Routing # 325070760
Acct, # 3064483428

Have him put my $400.00 back in my account and I'll send him this entire bit of "miscommunication" right back to him. I really don't give a damn if he's Dr. Porsche himself. Sorry if I'm venting, but this is not my first rodeo with "Ferdinand". It's people like this that take all of the fun out being excited about the brand.

Enough said. Dead issue. Let's all forget it and move on. We either sleep at night or we don't. No hard feelings towards you, you're just looking after your friend. Peace, love , Donny Osmond, and all that stuff.

Sheesh. Sorry I replied. I have only met him once but I have no reason to think he was anything but a good guy. I am out. unsubscribing. Next time just come right out and say you want to bash someone, rather than make it seem like you want to actually give him a piece of your mind or resolve the issue.

I would buy something from Franz after meeting him. I would not buy anything from or sell anything to you. I might get my name smeared around the internet by someone with only a few posts here. I have not seen any proof that the case exists in the condition you say it is in. How do you know Franz removed the number? I find it hard to believe that you did not look at a case you bought for a whole year. And why did you not ask about the engine number during the sale? It appears there was no false number stated in the ad.

The 4R/5R combo is fine. There are more disparate matchups as far as numbers go. Why not go racing with it if it is in "great condition"?
