75 911S chain housings leak

Just curious about the best method for sealing the chain housing to case and chain housing covers?
Installed these gaskets dry, as instructed in Waynes book and they seep slightly. Is there a better method? Possibly just using 574 or a gasket and 574 or?

Guy who did some rebuilding on my engine recommends Dow 730 on both sides of gasket to case and only on case side of cover gasket. Hoping mine is leak free.
730 is significantly more $$ than 574 but is flexible. Basically a very high end RTV for aircraft engines.

I used loctite 592 pipe sealant to stop slow seepage from the intermediate shaft cover, you should find this at most parts houses. I'm getting slow seepage from both the chain box to case and the chain covers, I will try the loctite on the covers next time they come off.

You dont need to locktite 574 the whole cover or chain box gasket. I do the chain box to case about the bottom third both sides of the gasket and same with the chain cover, bottom vertical 1/3 to the stud and up 3 studs the other way. The right side has a small well to hold the oil so I cover just a little more than that.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, is there any disadvantage to 574 all the way around the gaskets? I think I will do the same on the valve covers as they seep a little too.

So I guess the motor is coming out again. On the plus side, I am getting really good at R&R on the motor!

The down side to using 574 is it's very hard to remove in the future. And don't use any sealant on the valve covers, if you don't have the turbo type covers get them.

If the covers are still off a quick hit on a surface plate makes them seal real nice.
