Engine Dyno in North NJ ?
Looking forward to dyno test my new engine for project in progress.
Any leads where I could put it on stand and test ? Want to see numbers. Will it be enough to pull my 67 911 SWB :D Quick info on motor - 3.0l made into 3.2L , Mahle C&P's, Port&Polished, Twin Plugs ( not hooked yet, waiting for distributor), Weber's 46's tuned down for S cams etc. |
It's a little bit of a drive, but if you want to hop over the border into Rockland County, DeMan Motorsports has an excellent dyno. His # is 845 727-3070.

I know DeMan. Have been there few times. Never bothered to ask them about dyno stand. dah! |
I think Peter Dawe has an engine dyno. Pretty sure Rick only has a chassis dyno

IDGAF27,
Do you want an engine dyno or a chassis dyno? There is a significant difference. I’ll encourage you to find an engine dyno. Every top professional engine builder has an engine dyno. This is much more accurate for measuring but that isn’t normally the issue. A well set-up engine dyno with the ability to control the air and oil temperatures and have absolutely no exhaust reversion is what you are looking for. This will allow you to ‘run-in’ your new engine under very controlled conditions. While you want to run it under varying loads, you want to temperature cycle it quite a number of times. You want to confirm your new distributor is operating correctly (you can watch with a timing light). You want to be able to finesse the carb settings and jetting (have calibrated exhaust measuring equipment and spare carb jets). After some run-in, you want to re-torque the rocker arm shafts and cylinder head nuts (bring your calibrated torque wrenches). You want to adjust the valves and confirm the cam timing (bring the valve and cam tools). You can do several oil changes and inspect the filter and sump for anything. Of course, there will not be any oil leaks to find (bring a drip pan just in case). All of this is very easy on an engine dyno. … and you can listen – up close with a stethacope. When everything is done, you can install the engine in your car, knowing it will run perfectly from the first crank of the starter. Knowing your torque, horsepower and mixture as a function of rpm is a valuable extra. Best, Grady |
Grady, thanks . You are correct, I am in need of ENGINE Dyno stand . My intentions are to make sure engine set up right and I am aware how to redialed based on Cams are in.

Home - Dawe's Motorsports
I know Pete has a test stand.. not sure if it is a dyno.. Since it really doesn't take to long we will stuff an engine in a roller and use our chassis dyno.. |
Gytis, Peter Dawe has THREE dynos. Call him. about $600 per day for tuning I think.
