96 vs 88 mm pully 1/2
![]() pulley 1/2. Another Pelican member has a 96mm 1/2 available will it work? I check with our host's listing and it shows 88mm for years 76 and up with smog delete. I'm just looking to ease changing the belt, trying to fit shims into the stock 1/2 is a pain. thanks Kenny |

Kenny - be careful what you wish for. The thing I like about the double alternator pulley is that you can use a spanner to hold it when torquing the alternator nut. And do the same when hand cranking the engine over.
All the single pulley halves I have require a tool which inserts suitably spaced rods out the side of a spanner into the central holes around the pulley. For me this doesn't work as well, though perhaps because I don't have the right pulley parts to match the holes in the fan side of the pulley system. Fitting the shims is always a pain. Use a little bit of thick grease to get them to stay put while you jockey things around. |

If you look at the fan, there is a series of holes around the center pulley. You want the holes to match on both halves of the fan.
If you get the 80 and later outer fan half it doesnt have the extra belt carrier of the air pump cars. Part number 930.106.209.02 Bruce |
