Brief smoke at start up
Car is an 81 SC with about 60k and I believe pretty much stock (as fas as I can tell). On start up after sitting for some period it will shoot out a puff of bluish white smoke. Oil I assume. It doesn't seem to smoke while driving or accelerating and oil usage is not terrible but not zero either (not completelty sure as I just got the car and have about 500 miles on it).
What steps should I take to understand where this is coming from and if it is something to be concerned with? |

Just received a parts shipment which includes a gasket set and the .004 feeler gage with the angle so I am on the path of a valve adjustment.
Also thing I understand the compression check but I don't have a gage. Any recommendations on a gage for compression checks? How about lead down. My understanding is that you want to pressurize the cylinder and measure pressure decay over time. Is this a DIY or ??? |
