Oem bearings or Glyco, any difference?

I have heard of some qc issues with Glyco in recent years, any truth to this ? I have also always assumed that when you bought oem, you were getting Glyco in Porsche packaging.
I should have some boxes back from the machinist in the next couple of weeks, so I have to start getting my parts list together. Don't mind spending the extra coin, just want to make sure I am getting what I pay for.

I heard that the rod bearings from aftermarket supplies have had some issues lately as well. I tried to order Factory 2.4 rod bearing shells and Stoddard had 3 half shells and the rest would have had to come from Germany. And the cost would have been almost $400 for just the shells. I could not wait a month for the order to arrive, so I used the aftermarket ones(15 year old stock) that we supposed to be ok. I am no expert, but my machinist is and confirms that there is an issue, either in the composition of the materials, or something else has changed. From what I understand is that under severe racing conditions they just do not hold up.

Yep the guys in the know that do this work on a daily basis have confirmed the aftermarket Glyco bearings are notsogood these days. Here's some comments from the experienced when friend cstreit had a problem with his engine.

I had previously used Clevite 77 bearings when rebuilding my friend's 911...but after checking online...I can't seem to find them in Clevite's latest catalog.
I prefer them to any other...because they came with grooves already machined in...and had hardened back shells.
They were available in several different styles...some with radiused sides to get better oiling.
I have also seen a set with what appears to be a "leaf" style set of grooves in the surface to promote oil dispersion on the journal.
Good luck in the rebuild.
Bob
