Making a short stroke out on 2.0
Has anyone built and short stroke out of a 2.0? I was told you use 2.7 top end on a 2.0 bottom end. I guess this makes a high revving engine. I was looking for someone with this set up to ask a few questions.

That means 2.5 liter short stroke. 90mm pistons and 66mm stroke. The 2.0 already has the shortest stroke crankshaft of any production 911 engine.

If you like revving to the moon around town and have short gear ratios, then yes! :)

As Flieger stated, 89 or 90 mm cylinders on a 66mm crank gives you a 2.5SS. If you already have the 2.0 case, great you can go with that ( with some work) and if you do not you can go with any of the later cases, 2.2, 2.4, 2.7 with the 66 crank.
I am running a 2.5SS on the street and really like it. Mine is pretty built but I have been in others, you can putt around town just fine but most 2.5s need/should be reved to get the most out of them...... If not why even go short stroke. Jimmy |
I just got my 2.5 SS back in my 71. This engine is FAR more streetable than the old T engine that it replaced. I have the stock 901 (911) gears in the transmission and went with Mod Solex Cams. This thing is a stump puller. The power band is just a HUGE improvement. I would do it again.
