Stroker 3.2
I came across an engine build that, from what I can see, has limited information on this board. I did not see it in Waynes book.
It involves the 3.0 case with 3.2 p/c's with a 3.0 crank. The 3.0 connecting rods are elongated to enable the use of OEM p/c's from a 3.2 engine. Anyone know anything else about these engines? Durability? Power with CIS? Thanks James |

It's still a 3.0, but with slightly better rod/stroke ratio. I'm guessing it's only worth doing if you have the parts and need to rebuild.
Power would be the same.

I would have thought that there would be an increase in power with increase in displacement? Is this a torque, low rev engine?

There is no increased displacement, still a 3.0 crank and the same bore.

I've written about this build a few times. Do a search and it should come up.
It is in deed a 3.0. 70.4 stroke x 95mm bore. The benefits are availability of Ps&Cs and easier compression increase and in fact new 3.2 euro Ps&Cs are cheaper the 9.3:1 3.0. The increase in rod length to stroke ratio also benefit engine dynamics. Piston side loading and therefore friction is reduced for engine longevity.

Thanks Henry. I first came upon it after reading a post of yours. I have searched and not found very much. The pistons in my 3.0 Euro are no longer spec. My cylinders are within spec. This type of engine would allow me to buy a matched set of P/C's. Although, they would be used.
My other option is to buy the 95 mm JE pistons, but they would not be matched to my old cylinders. I am not sure if this would even make much of a difference? If you could make a suggestion that would be brilliant. As always with my project, money is THE consideration. Thanks Henry, it is very cool to have this kind of reply. |

Send me an email if you want me to search my inventory for a good set of 3.2 (95mm) pistons.
I will need the size group for your cylinders. If you'd like, we can recondition your cylinders and match them with a nice set if pistons. We can also supply Goetze ring for the project. If you need a machine shop to recondition the rods we can handle that as well.
