				Fan shroud, searched really.

I have a fan shroud with the numbers 931.106.102.2R. It is too deep for the replacement alternator Valeo YV 2700 ALT.A14N11 C101368A. I can't fine the shroud number but I need a new shroud as I broke mine trying to use some spacers. Any ideas?

If the back space is too deep you have a Carrera alternator housing. The Carrera housing has about 5mills of back space. What you need is a housing with a 19mm base thickness to support the verlo alternator. That would be 75 to 77 or 80 to 83 housing but the 19 mm back spacing is the most important spec. Bruce | ||

The only fan shroud that is deep enough to fit the 95 amp alternator is the later '84-'89 Carrera shroud. This should help These are very difficult to find without cracks. I have had the early shrouds machined deeper so they will accept the big alternator. PM me for details.

So how does one measure the length of the alternator? I measured from the seating flange of the alternator to the end of the fan shaft and got about 125mm. I would get the 105.006. 00 shroud with these measurements. Am I reading this correctly? I also did not have the hub extension. So do I need to get one of these as well?

To match the alternator length measurements in the table, measure from the end of the shaft to the back mount face on the alternator. It sounds like you did this and determined you have a 70 or 75 amp alternator. The fan shroud part numbers are not stamped on the shroud. The numbers on the shroud are the casting numbers and these are the same for all the shrouds from '69-'77. The shrouds for the larger alternator used on the '75-'77 engines have an approximately 10 mm deeper cut for the alternator mount flange to accommodate the 70-75 amp alternator. This is the one you need.
