FVD piston and cylinder kit?

FVD Brombacher Online Shop

Anyone have any experience with these parts? If purchased I'd go with the carillo rods as well, but shelling out 8k is not easy. Just seeing what your thoughts are. I'm taking my 3.6 and putting it out to a 3.8, but I'm trying to start sourcing my parts for the build. I've wanted to go with 9M stuff, which I will for some things (ITBs, his MoTec system, maybe his cam), but I don't have 40k to throw at just my motor. I'll be happy with around 350hp to the wheels. Still no easy feat with this motor, but it should be doable for under 20k I think.

The web site text says "Mahle upgrade pistons and cylinders," so it looks like the parts are Mahle, in which case, you're fine. But, you can't make out a "Mahle" marking on any of the parts in the pics. I would think you'd want to contact them and confirm they are Mahle P and C's.

All the ads I've seen them in say they are made by Mahle. Which is a good company. So I'm assuming it's just a collab. They did the R&D and testing and what not, then outsourced the production to Mahle. They have a pretty extensive parts list.

Thanks Brett.

If I might be so bold - buy Mahle pistons and cyilnders through Porsche Motorsports or other venders selling Mahle products. - FVD is making money on everything they sell. There is another company called LN Engineering, who makes cylinders and uses JE pistons. Jim

^ and in my opinion, I'd use the products from Charles @ LNE before using parts fro FVD. Just my personal experience speaking there.

Thanks for the input guys. If they are made by Mahle, what makes them any different than the ones they sell direct(minus the name, FVD). Could their possibly be that much more research/R&D/testing costs that merit the extra chunk of change?

I figured it was just FVD distributing the Mahle P and C's. I only glanced at the web page, but I didn't see mention of them being a product of FVD's development. I suppose only specs would tell if there were a difference. But, if it's something made by Mahle, I would think one can be certain that, at least, the manufacturing quality is there.

Here in Europe, FVD.de is an authorised Mahle dealer (there aren't many)
I got my 98mm 3.4 kit through them, delivered to their UK partner. Don't believe there was an 'in-house' option at the time...

Ok. So maybe the kit is only available through them? This is why it is almost double the price of others?

This.

FVD is a pretty well know and respectable company. (Willy brombacher is a true enthusiast: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/997/200029-fvd-brombacher-willy-brombacher-featured-porsche-scene-live-fvd-b97-2-pdk.html)
Not that I spent that much cash on their products, but I have bought a few things now and then. Never had any issues.
If i was planning to go the 3.8 route, I would not shy away from this kit.
I'd prefer it over LN and JE.

I got my pistons/cylinders from LN, but I have bought many things from FVD. They are very helpful and responsive. They have obtained parts for me from Germany that PCNA said were NLA. Rhonda Roxburgh and Willy Brombacher and all the others are good to deal with.
