time certs?
I have asked this question on the tech forum but thought it would be better served here. After removing the intake and shroud i discovered what I beleive to be case savers at hte head studs. Can any one confirm based on just photos. I did touch with a magnet and it did stick apart from the stud. I realize it is hard to say just looking at a photo. A good guess will do

I would say yes. Neither my 3.2 or 2.4 have any protrusion around the stud base.

Thanks Ed. As I have only had 1 other 911 apart it also had no protrusion as you called it, nor did it have timecerts or case-savers.

they don't look like time-serts to me cuz time-serts are usually flush since they are counter sunk
however, time-serts are magnetic

The engine tin needs to be cut to the bottom, not just to the cylinder.
Well there is some sort of case saver there. If the studs are non magnetic, they are dilivar which is the proper use on a 2.7. Bruce |

Since I have no/little history on this car, the appearance of these make me believe the engine was probably rebuilt during it's life. Not surprising due to the performance and lack of smoke. Also the exhaust has been backdated so the thermal reactors are gone, Once I get the oil to stop leaking onto the floor all will be well. (parts are ordered and "while your in there" has taken over. already gone through a bottle of degreaser and a bunch of rags!
