What cams do you recomend

Hi I have a ROW 911 sc with webers, headers, 9.8:1 on 98 octane fuel
Used only for hill climbs, track, Tarmac rally(not a road car)
What camshafts should i be fitting?

You are pretty limited in camshaft choice by the OEM CIS pistons. 964 cams would be a good choice unless you change pistons for more clearance.

Hi John,

I'll email you tomorrow with some ideas of where to source the 964's locally.

I have some 964 cams for sale. Redone by web-cam on SC cores with only a couple hours run time.

Call John DR Camshafts. He is a frequent contributor here and is willing to help with cam selection.
There are lots of cams that will run with the cis pistons that also work well with Webers. The first cams that come to mind are the webcam 20/21.

Product #05-282 258/246@.050 IN DEGREES: 238/226 485/.452

DR makes a similar cam.

DC 20 Super C2 I/E 248/236 242/230 .470"/.455" 113
Upgrade for Porsche C2 C4 964 or hot 3.2

DC 21 I/E 248/238 242/232 .490"/.470" 112

DC 22 I/E 254/236 247/230 .485"/.455" 113

DC 24 I/E 254/244 247/237 .485"/.460" 113

Dougherty Racing Cams

With all that said, if your thinking about taking you'rr engine apart, you can easily have the pistons cut for vale clearance which lowers the compression slightly but then allows you to use cams with a drastically improved profile. I really like the Mod S cam that DR cams produce. Incredible mid range and more that decent top end.
