Cam holding tool PEL-TOL-P237

I recently purchased a pair of new Mod-S cams and realize that they have come with the bolt type fastening for the chainwheels. Looking back at the DR cams site I see that I missed that it was mentioned there... Pelican is back-ordered until Feb on the PEL-TOL-P237 tool for holding the cam while tightening the bolts, has anyone found an alternative way to hold the cam without the use of this tool?

Anyone have a pile of them they keep tripping over and have one to sell?

Thanks,

W

Wade,

You can order the genuine tool from your nearby Porsche distributor in Norway, Brasil or ports in-between.

Porsche tool number: 9191
Porsche order number: 000.721.919.10

JohnJL,

Thanks for the offer, I am afraid that round trip shipping would cost more than the tool itself, I am sure of it really.

I'll give you an attaboy and a +1 for karma

Could someone please tell me what the head size is on the '83 and later cam bolt is? My bolts are shipping right now. I will make my own tool but want to make sure that the socket clears the inside diameter.

Thanks,

W

My motor is going for a joyride this week. Again paying for shipping both ways would cost the same as getting my local shop to do it and won't have to wait till Feb.
Thanks for the kind offer though.

Worth keeping any eye out on eBay for the tool, or could try speaking to Matt @ Type 911 here in the UK, he can get the tools (although maybe not the Sir Tool version, probably the official Porsche one)...just another option...

Red face In the same boat.

I have called everywhere.. SIR tool seems to be the maker in North America and won't be producing until February. I have been on back order at Pelican for a month or so already. I called my local Porsche dealer and they want almost $300 and can't get it till March or April!!

JohnJL, I'm in Burlington Ontario and would be very appreciative if i could take you up on the Good will offer!!

Try these guys:
Baum Tools | Audi , BMW, Porsche, Volkswagen, Mercedes, VW, Jaguar, Ferrari

More expensive than the Sirs tool, but a much nicer tool.
