Ok, lets try this again.

I went and got a better volumetric measuring stick.

Instead of measuring out 100cc at a time +/- 2cc, which gave time for some of my mixture to seep past the rings, I measured out EXACTLY what I expected to fit in the cylinder based on 90mm pistons and 8:1 CR, and put that in container 1.
I then had standby syringes with 10cc in each EXACTLY for makeup in case the 90mm pistons were really 93mm.

Ready, set, GO! I got all of container 1 (473ml) in, and whaddya know it filled it up almost perfectly to the top of the spark plug hole. Obviously a few to many cc's. Crap all three syringes have 10cc of liquid in them already! Quickly empty one, and draw out liquid to the bottom of the plug hole

Removed 3cc giving 470cc volume total
go do the math, AHHHHH better. 8.4:1 +/- the 1CC left dribbling around the inside of containers.

Ok, flip the engine over, drain it all out, do it again, this time with 3cc less in container 1, and VIOLA! The same thing! (this time it needed half a CC less altogether actually netting 8.5:1 CR)

Sheesh... repeatable is good, but I coulda taken the timing apart, the heads off, MEASURED the cylinders directly, installed the tin, and reassembled in the time I've spent doing it wrong. But I don't have any beveled washers, so it wouldn't have gained me anything I guess, and wouldn't have given a definitive CR

So re-cap:
1)I suck at measuring with inadequate tools, and I took too long getting liquid into the cylinder, and more got by the rings than I expected.

2) 90mm bore, 66mm stroke, 2,5L ss with 8.5:1 CR.
Counter weighted Crank
New Valves and guides
ported heads,
Forged rockers,
early S cams.
Carrera tensioners.

Sounds like a fun motor. Still selling it though....

Richard

It's all for sale:
So I'm tying the car and the engine thread together.
Here's the car thread.
The short. It's a 100% cancer free 100% solid 1971 911T with very nice interior, but left in primer so there is some surface rust on the body panels. ZERO rust on any of the pan.
Engine transmission, and almost every part needed to put it back together is included.

Bringing home a 71 Friday
