ebay engine yoke
anyone here have any experience with the 5 arm yoke offered on ebay for $90, is it just as strong as the one sold here or is it worth the extra $100?

Most of the 5 arm heads (356-911) that I have seen are painted blue and manufactured by sir tools. Sir tools does not sell retail any more. The new ebay ones that I have seen have been going under 200. Most of the tool companies seemed to be linked to one out of lower california.

don't know about the strength yet but I have had to grind away at the yoke to clear the exhaust. Also, you will have to remove the oil cooler before mounting the engine as the collar on the eBay unit is not as thick as SirTool and can not be ground down to clear the cooler. Some guys have used spacers to clear the cooler but then the collar doesn't sit flat on engine case making it less strong & secure.

I purchased the 5-arm yoke from eBay when I did my top-end overhaul earlier this year. Below is the link to the seller:
I was totally pleased with this part. Very nicely made, robust, and no clearance issues of any kind.

I purchased the same yoke, I had to use a rat taill file so that the transmission bolt holes would fit as mounting bolts. You still have to drill the orientation pin holes. All in all worth the effort.

Yup that is the one I am considering. Sounds good, guess I will pull the trigger on that.

I'm using this one right now. (the 5-arm). Pretty decent for the price. You may do a little bit of grinding. I also drilled holes in mine to put a pin through my Harbor Freight engine stand hole.
Worth the $ and ships fast. |
