How hard to turn distributor?

I've got a known good running 2.7 engine and I pulled the distributor out to swap the trigger.

It's really hard to turn...as in, get some gloves on and grab the gear and it barely moves.

Is this right?

Todd,

Not right.

Something is amiss and I'd kindly suggest it get disassembled and repaired properly.

When I get one that needs a total rebuild with all new bushings, shims, etc, I send those to Barry Hershon.

Hi

Agree, not right, it should rotate pretty freely.
