Oil Cooler - Leak

I have installed a New Oil cooler on my 2.4 not too many miles ago and I am beginning to see another leak. Although, i dont believe its the cooler itself, but instead I believe it to be the Seals to the engine. This appears to be the same spot in the past.

Any ideas on what to check/ any tricks to ensure the round seals are being compressed enough to the block and cooler?

Are you sure the leak isn't coming from above the cooler and leaking down?
Did you use the green O-ring seals?
Torquing the cooler mounting nuts will assure a good seal.

It doesnt appear to be coming from above, and I did use the Green Seals. I can double check the tightness of the nuts.. but Im pretty sure they are Tight.

Im wondering if it could be that the metal(block) to metal(cooler) isnt a tight enough gap.. thus not allowing for the gaskets to compress enough?

I've had 3 coolers fail in the last 5 years. I haven't seen the seals ever leak. There can be a leak behind the cooler where the steel insert shows through for one of the oil galleys. Most people put JB weld on the area.

Now that sounds like an area for me to check. Do you have a pic of that spot to JB?

I came across this post.
Case & JB Weld question

Is that the area you are referring to JB WELD? ...

Should the cap nuts also have Black sealant applied to the threads as added precaution?
