Check me

Could someone please check my numbers on my dial gauge.I can't send pics so hopefully my description will do.It's a 1 " dial i'm using for cam timing.I'm setting the preload at 10mm (0.4") on small face.turning 360 back to TDC the small dial goes backwards from 0.4" to past 0.3" and the big pointer goes around once and stops at 25.My spec. is for E-cam (3.00-3.3mm)0.118" to 0.130"I read 0.125" to the middle of the spec.Does this sound correct?Thanks,T.C.

I'm afraid I can't follow what you are saying. You'll have to become the expert on your dial guage. When the valve is fully closed (off the cam lobe) you set the dial guage to zero by preloading it 1 or more turns. Then you turn the crank until you get to TDC on the exhaust stroke. At that point the intake valve should be just starting to open. The amount it opens is what you are trying to set. You should be turning the engine in the forward direction when checking the cam setting.

If you have an inch guage you'll net to calculate your setting in inches. ie: 2mm = .078inches.
