32 Motronic high rev misfire
Hi All.
I just finished re building my 3.2 Motronic in my 86 Targa. Car starts and runs strong till I hit 4800 to 5000 rpm. Then I get a misfire.. I back of it runs awesome, hit it and again at 4.8k to 5K it misfires.. As the car warms up the misfire comes in at about 4300rpm.. I am assuming it's a sensor issue. Wondering if anyone has any insight into this type of problem?? Thanks, Mac. ![]() |

Bentley gives quite a bit of information one can use for checking the various sensors. Resistances for the CHT, for instance.
Is it possible that your rotor is off one tooth? So as the advance kicks in, it is no longer as close as it needs to be to the spark plug posts? Don't the distributors have some centrifugal advance to keep these things lined up? Could that be an issue? Just guessing. |

I'll give kicking it back one tooth a try tomorrow.. I have the rotor lined up at TDC but when I put a light on it it seems to be advanced quite a bit. There is no adjustment on these distributors but there is mechanical advance on this rotor.
Thanks for the feed back, I'll give it a try.. |
