Distributor for 2.2
The motor in my /6 is a replacement for my original, which was destroyed after a dealer rebuild.
The case is a 911/07,it has "S" pistons,"E" cams and I think the heads are stock "T'.Zeniths carbs and a Marelli distributor. The engine runs really well, and pulls strongly, with lots of grunt. I bought a Bosch 008,and I am wondering if the advance curve is compatible with this configuration,or does it need to be recurved for the "E" cams? I looked at the factory manual, and the curves between the Marelli and the Bosch are very close. It appears the Marelli advance comes in earlier than the Bosch, but both end up at the same place. So,stay with the Marelli, or put the Bosch in as is,or recurve? Thank in advance(no pun intended) John |

Dont know if this helps, but replaced my Marelli with a 67S yellow label dizzy 25 years ago on stock 2.2 T,and it ran great(Noticably better then Marelli) straight out of the box.I am no expert, but maybe you want to give your dizzy a try before doing a recurve and see how she does.Get a good feel for the stock curve so you have (Subjective)baseline...

Mikensam,
Thanks for the reply! I put the 008 yesterday, and to me it felt slower, and not as torquey. I guess I will put the Marelli back in until I get some information on the proper recurve specs for the008. Any body else care to chime in? Thanks, John |
