2 questions

I posted these on the technical forum, but figured that here might be a better place.

First Q. Cleaning Cases. Any harm taking a pressure washer to the case half's, everything is out of them. The ultrasonic cleaner i have access is just to small to get the cases in.

Second Q.

The valve spring on the Left came out of my race motor (currently in the car). when I had the heads done last year, I was stupid and forgot to send the springs to the place, and so they were done with stock springs. The "cap" (top of the spring is non-ferrous) and the springs are about 1/2 inch longer than the ones I just pulled out of my 78 Motor which I am re-building as a little more of a hot rod motor. These have a ferrous "cap". Any idea what I have here.
