distributors: 27 mm vs. 30 mm shaft
I am reading that earlier 911 cases took a distributor with a 27 mm shaft, while later ones used a 30 mm shaft.
Does anyone manufacture an "adapter" that allows a 27 mm distributor to be used on a 30 mm case?

Thats a very thin adapter and due to the necessary length and need for the O-ring, I've not seen anyone do that. If your case requires a later, 30mm unit, thats what I'd recommend using.
I have seen custom distributors made to work in either size engine case.

Thanks Steve, I had not found any such adapter either. I guess it's machine shop time if I want such a thing. It shouldn't be too tricky to make, just a tube with 30 mm OD and 27 mm ID and then some kind of flange on the top, with whatever vertical offset is needed (if any).
I was thinking of using an old cast iron distributor with points, but on a later case. I really like the simplicity of points. Oh well, on to plan B.
